The International Programs Office has a close relationship with different institutions and NGOs, where international students can
participate by carrying out voluntary work during the semester.
Information about these activities is provided during the Orientation
Week; students interested may register with the PIIE Student Assistant (macarena.moya@ucv.cl)
I. Chile's Ministry of Education
“Languages Open Doors” Program: English, French and German are taught in
Municipal High Schools of the region, supporting teachers’ work in the
classrooms.
II. Community Action Workshop (TAC, by its Spanish acronym)
Reinforcement lessons to
underprivileged children; improvement of public spaces such as squares and
recreation centres for children and the community; promotion of environmental
awareness; maintenance and restoration of TAC infrastructure; reinforcement of
reading-to-children; execution of didactic workshops; and learning about local
culture, among others.
III. National Youth Institute (INJUV, by its Spanish acronym)
Workshops are made for vulnerable youth, as
well as reinforcement lessons are given to students on different areas of
study, strengthening the learning of languages, music, dances, cultures,
etc.
IV. Un Techo para Chile (A Roof for Chile)
It
supports communities located on the outskirts of cities with underprivileged
people who have the dream of organizing their lives and working to obtain their
first home, helped by volunteers and financial contributions by private entities.
V. Hogar de Cristo (Home of
Christ)
Outings are made from the
Home of the Institution in order to provide homeless individuals with food and
warm clothes during the night.
VI. PAEC
Assistance to stray dogs at the institution, repair and cleaning of
kennels, bathing of dogs, vaccines and feeding, restoration of physical spaces,
among others.
IMPORTANT: These activities DO NOT grant academic
credit.
